Re:Hope FAQ

What is the church all about?

Don't be scared. If you are new to Church and God, here is something to keep in mind. The most important thing is to love God with all that you are and the second is to love people (even the hard to love.) Everything else depends on those two things. For more info about our beliefs and values, visit here and here.

What kind of people are welcome at Re:Hope?

People who want to seek God and know Him better and move towards godliness are welcome here. We don't care if you are far from God or near to Him. What matters is the direction in which you're going.

Why do you emphasise Bible Reading Groups?

Reading God's word together is the best way to know Him and hear Him speaking to us. If you want to seek God, you'll want to be in one of these groups.

What is baptism, and am I supposed to do that?

Don't ask if it is required, ask if it's what Jesus wants us to do. Baptism is symbolic of one's dying and being raised to new life in Jesus. "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me." If you have dedicated your life to Jesus it is time.

What about communion?

All who have dedicated their lives to Jesus remember Christ's sacrifice by taking communion. The bread represents Jesus' body; the wine represents his blood shed to forgive our sins. We offer communion in the back every week during the second worship set. If you have dedicated your life to Jesus feel free to go back and remember what Jesus did.

How do you use prayer?

Prayer is simply listening and talking with God. Sometimes we pray asking God that His will be done and at other times we ask Him to help us and others. In addition to our Tuesday prayer meeting, we love to pray for one another during the worship service. Who wouldn't want to be prayed for? During the second worship set we have people in the back who want to pray for you. Are you Hurting? Sick? Discouraged? Overwhelmed? Needing Direction? Thankful? Anything! We want to pray with you. Just come to the back and let us go to God with and for you.

Where does the money from the offering go?

The use of all money received by Re:Hope is overseen by a board of Trustees. Brian doesn't receive his salary from the weekly offering, and many of the other staff receive support from churches and friends from the USA. Most of the offering money goes towards rent, music, snack food, childcare, and loving on people who don't know Jesus. Additionally, 10% of all offerings given to Re:Hope are then given as an offering to the persecuted Church around the world through Release International

Release International serves the persecuted church by providing for the needs of the families of martyrs and prisoners; enabling people to survive persecution and its effects; Helping the persecuted church win those to Christ who are opposed to the gospel; supplying them with bibles and literature; and being their voice to the nations.

We won't pressure you to give but if you have dedicated your life to Jesus and are a part of Re:Hope you can give in the little box near the communion table on Sunday's or online here. God has always asked his people to bring an offering because it reveals their heart and demonstrates faith. May God bless your step of faith!.

What is your philosophy on worship?

Worship is the act of giving God what He is due, and He is due a lot! It's our act of singing or speaking out of thanksgiving for all the Good which God is and all that He has done for us. There is no set way to worship during our service; the most important thing is that you are letting your heart go. If for you that means raising your hands, singing loudly, lying on the floor in humility, or being lost in quiet admiration, you are welcome to do that at Re:Hope. Most of the songs we sing are contempory (i.e. Passion, Hillsong, Redman, etc...), but we also love some of the old hymns put to new music.
