It is time to begin again living lives fully dedicated to showing God's goodness. Ridding ourselves of hypocrisy and changing to become like Jesus. We are about rising out of the apathy that Christians have rotted in for decades and returning to become people unashamedly passionate about Jesus. But no one wants to do this alone. We want to do this together as an enfolding community quick to tangibly demonstrate God's love to one another… something tells me that by our love for one another all people will know we belong to Jesus.
As a church we value these four things: Passion, Dedication, Truth, and Community. We believe it is going to take more than a half-hearted faith to make a difference here. It is going to take people, full of the Spirit of God, and serious about Jesus to call people out of hopelessness and into the Kingdom of God. We are about the hope of Jesus for today's dark world.
Our Values:
Passion: The kind of passion we are talking about is a contagious love that cannot be hidden but rather, overflows from our thankfulness of God's love for us. When Jesus is asked what commandment is most important He replies, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength'. The second is this "Love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:30) This is a love that permeates every aspect of our being- an obsession. A pure passion, observable to all who know us, which motivates to show God's love to everyone.
Romans 12:11 "Never be lacking in zeal but keep your spiritual fervour in serving the Lord."
Dedication: We are a chosen people dedicated to tangibly showing the goodness of God. We are committed to the Kingdom of God, more than any church (including Re:Hope) or anything. Our allegiance is to Jesus and to doing whatever He asks, whenever He wants it done, at any cost. We are dedicated to become godly people, obedient, and focused on God. Our dedication to God is driven by our love for God and our love for the entirety of humanity. 1 Corinthians 13 makes it clear that unless love infuses our dedication "we gain nothing."
We expect to be misunderstood, mocked, and suffer because we are all about God, yet we are dedicated to Him at any cost.
Truth: Who decides what is true? We say, "God." We are committed to His point of view, not our own, as the starting place for truth. After taking an honest look at what the bible says, if our thinking and our lives don't match up… we are to begin the process of change. We are about whole life integration of what we say we believe and how we live. We desire our lives to be in a state of constant change as we become like Christ, becoming who we need to become so that we can do what we are called to do.
When we say Truth is a value we mean truth, as declared by God, via the bible and the Holy Spirit.
Community: We are to be an enfolding community, quick to embrace as our own whoever walks in the door. We actively pursue forging relationships with everyone comes. We are committed to not just shallow relationships but sharing our lives with one another. We are willing to pursue unity and love with each other even when it's difficult.
We are convinced that not only is it how we were intended to live, and how we are wired to thrive in our pursuit of Jesus, but it is one of the most powerful ways we prove our faith (John 17:20-23.)
