My wife and I relocated to Glasgow from the south of England in May this year after both transitioning into remote positions in our jobs. We felt a strong pull towards Glasgow and a lot lined up in advance of our move, however it was a leap into the unknown without any connections or a specific ‘reason’ to be in the city. In short, the three months that followed our move were incredibly testing.
In June, I ended up becoming very unwell suddenly which led to urgent surgery and a week-long stay in hospital. Being so new to the city, it was a challenging and unsettling time for us both, but we’re so thankful for a full recovery and the amazing care received from the hospital.
Alongside this, the flat that we moved into was a real disappointment with multiple ongoing issues that ultimately led us looking for somewhere new to rent. This resulted in months of flat viewings and seemingly never-ending rejections and disappointments, feeling like we just couldn’t catch a break to get a sense of home here in Glasgow. However, last week we had an application accepted for a lovely new flat which has far exceeded our own expectations. It’s a huge provision, and after months of uncertainty and feeling worn down by setbacks, we feel confident that Glasgow is now our home and that we moved here for a reason. It may not have been the start to life here that we imagined, but we’re so excited for the future and this is no doubt testament to God’s faithfulness to provide for us. Through it all, He has kept us safe despite illness, drawn us closer to Him, and blessed us.
