“Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.”
The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.”
Seven times Elijah told him to go and look. Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.”
Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’”
I Kings 18:43-44
It was the smallest hint of hope. A cloud the size of a man’s hand. But it was the only confirmation that Elijah needed to declare that rain was coming to the land! He was so convinced of God’s faithfulness to fulfill His promise that he warned his servant: “If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!”
Keep in mind, the land had not seen rain for three years. Not a drop. A small cloud appears and Elijah declares it is going to pour!
I am so convicted by Elijah’s determined faith. How often do I question God’s faithfulness to come through in his promises!
All of God’s promises find their yes and amen in Him! He is faithful. He is good. He fights for you. He longs to show Himself faithful to you. He is better than your wildest most wonderful dreams. Do not give up on Him when you do not see your prayer answered in your time-frame.
Waiting is an opportunity for hope.
Silence is an opportunity for trust.
Impossible is an opportunity for miracles.
There is a cloud coming. There is hope rising. Do you have the faith to believe it is going to rain?
